Several water management strategies have been recommended by the Llano Estacado Regional Water Planning Group as a way to conserve and preserve our regional water supplies.

They include:

Rainfall enhancement.

Brush control.

bullet

Increased water use efficiency (agriculture/urban).

bullet

Recovery of capillary water from the Ogallala aquifer.

bullet

Increasing natural recharge to the Ogallala aquifer.

bullet

Desalinization of water from deeper aquifers.

bullet

Interconnecting small towns, cities, and industries in the region to receive ground water from well fields and surface water from area reservoirs.
