Publications

Soils of the Llano Estacado Regional Water Planning Region is a December 1999 report by Gerald Crenwelge, Soil Scientist, with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.  The report was edited and published by the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District.

The report discusses the identification and description of soils in the region; available water holding capacity of soils in the region; natural fertility of soils; organic matter; water and wind erosion; water runoff; hydric soils; potential irrigated cropland; potential dryland cropland; surface irrigation suitability of soils; sprinkler irrigation suitability of soils; and drip irrigation suitability of soils.
