Llano Estacado Regional Water Planning Group For The Southern High Plains of Texas

Welcome to the home page forthe Llano Estacado Regional Water Planning Group ("Region O").
Planning group members updated the 2001 Llano Estacado Regional Water Plan for submission to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) in January 2006. The TWDB approved the adopted plan on April 18, 2006, and it was included in the comprehensive 2007 state water plan. Members are currently working to develop a Scope of Work for special research projects to be conducted during the first two years of the third five-year regional water planning cycle.
The Llano Estacado Regional Water Planning Group will meet Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the A. Wayne Wyatt Board Room of the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District office, 2930 Avenue Q, Lubbock TX 79411.

Our Mission
The Llano Estacado Regional Water Planning Group's mission
statement is to "develop promote,
and implement water conservation, augmentation, and management strategies to
provide adequate water supplies for the Llano Estacado Regional Water Planning
Area and to stabilize or improve the economic and social viability and
longevity of the region through these activities.”
The Planning GroupIn accordance with Senate Bill 1 passed during the 75th Texas Legislative Session, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) in Austin was authorized to divide the state into 16 regional water planning areas. Appointed by the TWDB, the regional water planning group members represent 11 water user groups as they revise and update the 2001 water plan. Each of the 16 regional water planning groups are charged with the following tasks:
